Withdrawal policy
1. Introduction and your agreement to this policy
This policy governs every withdrawal from an AfriSynapse account. By requesting a withdrawal you accept the rules on this page, which exist to make sure funds reach the right person, quickly and with a clear record. It supplements, and does not replace, the Terms of Use; where the two could be read differently, the Terms govern the relationship and this policy governs the mechanics of withdrawals. The methods, fees and processing times here match the tables on the Deposit and Withdrawal Methods page, which shows the same information in comparison form.
2. Available withdrawal methods
Withdrawals are paid out in rand to South African destinations through four methods: Instant EFT via Ozow to your linked bank account, Visa card refund where your issuer supports it, Mastercard refund where supported, and a standard EFT bank transfer to a verified account in your name. The method you originally used to deposit determines some of what is available to you, because returning funds along the original path is both a security control and a regulatory expectation. Withdrawal to third-party accounts, accounts in other names, or to cash-adjacent instruments is not supported.
3. Processing times
Each request passes three phases: our internal checks, dispatch to the payment provider, and settlement by your bank or card issuer. Instant EFT withdrawals are normally dispatched within 24 hours and settle fastest. Card withdrawals typically take 1 to 5 business days end to end, with the later portion controlled by the card schemes and your issuing bank. Standard EFT withdrawals take 1 to 5 business days depending on when the batch is released and on your bank's own processing cut-offs. Weekends and South African public holidays do not count as business days, so a Friday-evening request starts its clock on Monday.
4. Fees and charges
AfriSynapse charges no withdrawal fee for any of the four supported methods. Costs can still arise outside our control: your bank may apply its own receiving fees, currency conversion applies only if you instruct your bank to convert rand to another currency, and network costs on the crypto side can apply when moving assets between venues before withdrawal. Any amount we do deduct, and the reason for it, is shown on the confirmation screen before you submit the request, so nothing reaches your bank statement unexplained.
5. Limits on withdrawals
The minimum withdrawal is R500 per request, which keeps processing proportionate to the amount moved. Daily and monthly maximums depend on your tier and verification status, and are visible in your account settings next to the withdrawal form rather than buried here; if you need a higher limit for a legitimate purpose, contact support with the reason and we review it against your verification profile. New accounts may have temporarily reduced limits for the first weeks of activity, as an anti-fraud measure while the expected transaction pattern is still establishing.
6. KYC and AML checks before payment
Every withdrawal passes verification checks: the destination must match your verified identity, the request must come from your authenticated account, and amounts or patterns that stand out against your account profile can trigger a review under our AML and KYC policy. First withdrawals, changes of destination, and unusually large requests receive the closest attention. These checks add time precisely where the risk of fraud is highest, which protects your money, not ours.
7. Why a withdrawal can be delayed or declined
Common causes of delay: a mismatch between the destination name and your verified name; an unreadable or expired verification document at the moment of the request; an open compliance review triggered by transaction monitoring; incomplete wagering of a recently deposited amount; technical problems at the payment provider; or a public-holiday calendar that pushes settlement out. Declines are rarer and mostly involve destination details we cannot verify, accounts under regulatory restriction, or evidence that the request did not come from you. Whenever a request is held, we tell you which cause applies and what, if anything, is needed from you.
8. Your responsibility for correct details
The account number, branch code and account name you enter are your responsibility, and we dispatch to exactly what you confirm. A wrong digit that points at a valid account elsewhere is the hardest category of error to reverse, because the receiving bank controls that account. Check the details twice before confirming, keep your saved destination list current, and never enter details given to you over the phone, even by someone claiming to be from us: our team reads details back to you and never the other way around.
9. Cancelling or changing a request
A pending withdrawal can be cancelled or edited from your account while its status still shows as awaiting dispatch, and the funds return to your available balance immediately. Once a request has been dispatched to the payment provider it cannot be recalled by us, and any correction has to happen with the receiving bank. If you realise a mistake after dispatch, contact support immediately: we cannot reverse the payment, but we can provide the reference trail your bank needs to attempt a recovery.
10. Support
Withdrawal questions go to [email protected] with the request reference where one exists; replies typically arrive usually within one working hour during support hours of Monday to Friday, 8:00–17:00 SAST. Your personal manager can also explain the status of a request in plain language on a call. If a withdrawal passes its expected timeline and the status tool shows no explanation, treat that as a support matter rather than waiting, and we will trace it with the provider.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy can be updated to reflect changes in payment providers, applicable requirements or platform features. The current version always lives on this page with its effective date noted below, and material changes that affect existing balances are announced in the platform notice board and by email before they take effect. Continuing to request withdrawals after a change takes effect means accepting the updated version.
Current version effective from 1 October 2026.
